VOLCANIC MADNESS
Ella and Sophie are best friends. They do everything together.
One sunny Saturday afternoon, Sophie was at Ella’s house for the weekend, and they were swimming in the lagoon just down from her house. They were looking at all the different types of colourful fish and sea life. Sophie had just found a starfish on a rock and was showing Ella it, when Sophie smelt a gassy sort of smell.
“That smells like a … VOLCANO!!” Sophie said with a tremble in her voice.
Ella had smelt it too, looked over at the distant mountain and saw that the lava had already formed a river streaming down the side of the mountain on through the village nestled below it. Sophie screamed to Ella, “Lets get out of here!”
They both ran back to Ella’s house where her mum had been waiting for them. When her mum saw them she was relieved, because she thought we had gone to the bay where the volcano erupted in to. The mountain had been puffing up smoke for a couple of days but it normally does that so they didn’t think it would erupt.
Ella and Sophie followed Ella’s mum to the backyard and climbed into their underground house that Ella’s dad made for them before he died in the massive eruption that happened 5 years ago. The bunker is good for eruptions because it keeps you safe from projectiles that fly out when the lava hits the water. They can fly a looong way.
Just as we shut the hatch tight, we heard a gigantic BANG as a half-molten rock hit the ground. Sophie sat down next to Ella who had set up a game of Connect 4 while her mum made a hot chocolate for all of us.
When the hot chocolates had been drunk and Sophie had won the game, they checked the VOLCANO6000 (a video camera machine thingy) to see if it was safe to go outside.
The volcano had stopped erupting so they climbed up the ladder and stepped out to see on the far hill a bunch of burnt down trees on the far hill with lots of red hot lava oozing down the side slowly. They turned to go inside, but all jumped when they saw the most humoungous gigantic rock they had ever seen coming towards them but it was too late it landed right on top on them! If they didn’t die from the weight, they died from how hot the molten rock was.
Suddenly Ella woke up, sweat dripping off her. This had all been a dream? She looked around and saw that Sophie and her mum were sound asleep. She could have sworn to herself that it was real!
