Chapter Seven - CHRISTMAS
Christmas Day begins very early in the Brown household and Paddington is soon hard at work opening his presents.
Things are marred slightly when Paddington Bear (see picture) finds a `bone’ in his Christmas Pudding and everyone jumps to the conclusion that he’s swallowed one of Mrs. Bird’s lucky sixpences. The day ends on a much happier note when the family opens all the presents that Paddington has gone to so much trouble to buy for them.

I have read this book from the library, but own the audio tapes, read by Stephen Fry, that I’ve listened to about 30 times. I’ve memorised a lot of it!
I like this chapter because everyone is alarmed thinking Paddington had swallowed a sixpence coin. Mr Brown and Mr Gruber hung him upside down to try to get it out, even though PB hadn’t even swallowed it!

“Hear! Hear!” agreed Mr. Brown. “What do you say Paddington?”
“It was very nice, except I had a bone in my Christmas pudding.”
You What? said Mrs. Brown, “Don’t be silly. There are no bones in Christmas pudding.”
“I had one,” said Paddington. …
